Welcome to the StoryDome!

Whidbey GeoDome at the Earth Portal

StoryDome at the Earth Portal / Next 50 Pavilion at the Seattle Center

The StoryDome has moved to a NEW HOME on Whidbey Island!
We’re thrilled that the StoryDome has now settled into its new space on South Whidbey Island. The StoryDome’s new location is at Ken’s Korner Shopping Center in Clinton (Hwy 525 and Langley Road – enter through the center door next to Island Drugs, then turn left).

Our cozy 30’ x 40’ space will be used for public events and dome shows, STEM science education with South Whidbey students, and the research and development of new StoryDome productions.

We believe that there is nothing more powerful than a story whose time has come. The StoryDome is our unique vehicle for telling new stories that evoke experiences of wonder and reverence. Using state-of-the art digital media it is now possible to create comprehensive, awe-inspiring visual stories of all scales – from the vastness of the cosmos to the tiniest quantum flux, and everything in between! Our goal is to create immersive, visual stories that shift consciousness toward a more ecological worldview. The StoryDome allows us to explore the beauty and complexity of Nature’s patterns and the interdependence of all life. We seek to catalyze the development of this “ecological self” – the sense of belonging to the Universe and the interdependence this implies – to bring forth attitudes, values, and behaviors that support and protect all life on Earth. We look forward to networking and collaborating with like-minded people and groups throughout the world to manifest this positive vision, based on stories that can increase peace, love, compassion, and joy for all who share this planet we call home. We ask for your support and invite your participation as we embark on this grand narrative journey.

RESEARCH METHODS

The StoryDome is a project of NewStories, an educational 501(c)(3) whose purpose is to help us understand our lives and our world, using the power of story. NewStories works with individuals, organizations, and communities to transform the way people live and work, giving people tools to co-create a life-affirming future. We host deep dialogues and gatherings, cultivate collaborative projects, and foster relationships among leaders. Our work is grounded in local, place-based projects and expanded through a rich network of national and global associations.

We look forward to networking and collaborating with like-minded people and groups throughout the world to manifest this positive vision, based on stories that can increase peace, love, compassion, and joy for all who share this planet we call home. You are invited to join us for the first in a series of monthly events called LIVING OUR LIVES IN A LARGER STORY.
This evening will be an opportunity to experience a guided tour of the Universe in the StoryDome, followed by a conversation focused on how this enlarged worldview can deepen our community connections and lead to personal transformation..
